PlayStation In A Bag: PS3 Money Tournaments

By Dan Rivalspot

There are a few big name software companies that contribute greatly to the world of gaming consoles. Sony is one of those companies, with its most famous PlayStation console released. As of now the most current system is the PS3, and it has many new capabilities that the first two editions did not. One of those abilities the enabling of tournaments through its console. They are appropriately named PS3 money tournaments.

The reason for this is because the PS3 was released the uncanny ability to receive and transmit internet signals. With this modernization an interconnected web of networking was developed to allow players to freely communicate with one another and to engage in competition over games. This however created two main types of tournaments: money and online.

A tournament is the competition of multiple players aiming for one goal. The difference between online and PS money tournaments are the number of players, the steaks, and how they are carried out. These characteristics of each make it very easy to tell the two different types of tournaments apart.

The number of players are a big deciding factor in whether or not a tournament will played for money . If the tournament is indeed played for it then there has to be enough players to ante up money. Also if an online tournament that includes players from all over the world is played for money then the players will have to divulge personal information which goes against the privacy settings for most players. This, however can work but only in one scenario-if the money tournament is sponsored by the PS network and the overall winner is given the cash prize by the network instead of from the other players.

The steaks for the two types are very different. The steaks for a money tournament will obviously be a cash prize or equal substitute of that nature. However, but for a regular online tournament will have different prizes. Some of these prizes include but are not limited too; gift cards, pride, logo or gaining face time.

However, if a competition is private or public affects the amount of money given and how many people can win in a given tournament. If it is public and the prize is awarded by the network then there can multiple winners, such as 1st place 2nd place etc. The prizes can vary in steps, for example 1st place winner will receive 500 dollars then 2nd place would only receive 300 etc. However, if it is a private competition then the amounts can vary and there is usual a clear division. If the private competition is small then usually the players pool there money together and the winner receives the pool of money. However, it is uncommon that there are 1st place and 2nd place winners within a private tournament because usually a private competition consists of about eight people.

Although there are disadvantages of having a tournament. Some people believe that engaging in a tournament causes unsightly competition and destroys the camaraderie feeling that shared interacting known as video gaming creates.

PS3 tournaments are an unscathed way to learn many skills of hand-eye coordination, healthy competitive measures and shared interacting social skills. Although there is high stigma about players and their ability to communicate and interact normally with society it generally helps people feel outgoing or passionate about something. Winning a competition can also boost one's self-esteem.
