There is a common mistake made with this particular lecture. People wrongly take it as bodybuilding advice. The rules could be applied to a gym setting if you wanted too, of course. But the truth is these rules are designed for life, nothing more.

Watch the full Arnold Schwarzenegger speech here.

1. Trusting Yourself Is Paramount.

2. Don't Be Afraid To Break The Rules.

3. Say No To A Fear Of Failure.

4. Don't Listen To The Naysayers.

5. Do The Work.

6. Giving Something Back Is Highly Important.

Let's take a more in detail look at each point so we can uncover the finer details of each rule to help you apply them to your own life.

You must trust yourself if you are to get anywhere in life. If you have a vision of where you want to be you are going to need the confidence to apply it otherwise it will remain merely a vision.

The easiest way to stand out for yourself is to do things the unconventional way and that's what Arnold is getting at with the second rule.

Most people who fail do so because they have a fear of failure itself. This brings us to rule number three. Anybody who has ever achieved anything in life will tell you that they had their failures along the way and if you intend to achieve your success you will need to prepare for bumps in the road. It happens.

If you are not sure what a naysayer is we will explain this for you here. Naysayers like to point out why you should try or tell you that you won't succeed no matter what you do in life. They do this because they hate themselves and refuse to deal with that problem so they deflect their frustration onto others to make themselves feel temporarily better. Refuse to listen to people like that, they will drag your spirit down too.

No matter how much you'd like that promotion or how badly you want to get through that college work, you will not actually get there unless you adhere to rule number 5 which is to work your butt off for your goal. Quite often those who reach success are separated from those do not by one simply thing and it is not talent, it is work ethic. When all is said and done, more is said than done.

Which brings us to rule number six. Whether it's helping your community or just using your experiences to help others in life, you must learn to give something back. This speech could be seen as Arnold doing just that, by helping to inspire a new generation and drawing from his own experience to do so. A champion isn't measured by his personal glory, but by the number of people he or she inspires to change their life along the way.

These points are incredibly effective when applied to life with conviction and determination. Doors of opportunity will open around you when you live with this positive and driven mindset.

Even if you are just looking at how to lose weight fast or ways to build a more muscular physique, these rules will help you a massive amount. But ultimately they are designed for life itself, and this Arnold Schwarzenegger speech is designed to stay with you every single day to remind you of the easy steps necessary to accomplish anything you desire in your lifetime.
